CarPlay

Travel Logs supports CarPlay for quick trip actions from the in-car display. You can browse vehicles, start a trip, stop an active trip, and use Wireless CarPlay automation for a selected vehicle.

Open Travel Logs in CarPlay

  1. Connect your iPhone to a CarPlay-compatible vehicle.
  2. Open Travel Logs from the CarPlay app screen.
  3. Wait for the vehicle list to load.

If no vehicles appear, add a vehicle in the iPhone app first and sync your account data before opening CarPlay again.

Start a trip from CarPlay

  1. Open Travel Logs in CarPlay.
  2. Select the vehicle you want to use.
  3. Confirm Start Trip.

If that vehicle already has a trip in progress, CarPlay opens the active trip screen instead of starting a second trip.

Stop a trip from CarPlay

  1. Open the vehicle that shows a trip in progress.
  2. Review the active trip details.
  3. Select Stop Trip.

When trip tracking details are available, CarPlay can show the trip duration, distance, and start location on the active trip screen.

Wireless CarPlay automation

Travel Logs can also start and stop trips automatically when Wireless CarPlay connects or disconnects.

To enable it:

  1. Open the vehicle in the iPhone app.
  2. Turn on Wireless CarPlay Automation.
  3. Save the vehicle.

When Wireless CarPlay connects, Travel Logs starts a trip for that vehicle. When it disconnects, Travel Logs stops the active trip for that vehicle.

Only one vehicle can use Wireless CarPlay automation at a time.

What CarPlay is best for

CarPlay works well when you want large, simple in-car controls for starting and stopping trips without handling your phone.

Wireless CarPlay automation is useful when you usually drive the same vehicle and want trip tracking to respond to the vehicle connection automatically.

Troubleshooting

If CarPlay is connected but Travel Logs does not start or stop trips as expected:

  • Confirm the vehicle already exists in the iPhone app.
  • Confirm Wireless CarPlay is being used if you rely on automation.
  • Check that the correct vehicle has Wireless CarPlay Automation enabled.
  • Make sure no other vehicle is already using that automation setting.
