Trip Auto Classification

Trip Classification controls the type assigned to new trips. Travel Logs supports Business and Personal auto classification rules for each vehicle.

Trip classification settings

Open classification settings

  1. Open Vehicles.
  2. Select a vehicle.
  3. Tap Trip Classification.

Each vehicle has its own classification settings.

Default type

The default type is used when no schedule or place rule applies. Choose Business or Personal.

Schedule rules

Schedule rules classify trips based on the day and time the trip starts.

When adding a schedule rule:

  1. Choose Business or Personal.
  2. Choose one or more days.
  3. Set the start and end time.
  4. Save the rule.

Schedule rules cannot overlap on the same day. If rules overlap, Travel Logs will ask you to adjust them before saving.

Place rules

Place rules classify trips based on saved places for the vehicle. Each assigned place can be set to:

  • None
  • Business
  • Personal

Place rules can apply when a trip starts or ends inside the place radius.

Rule priority

When a trip is created, Travel Logs checks rules in this order:

  1. Matching schedule rule.
  2. Matching origin place rule.
  3. Matching destination place rule.
  4. Default type.

This means a schedule rule can override place and default rules.

Changing existing trips

Auto classification applies to new trips. To change an existing trip, open History and update the trip classification there.
