Vehicles
Add vehicles, manage vehicle details, and configure vehicle-specific automation.
Vehicles
Vehicles are the center of Travel Logs. Trips, expenses, maintenance, places, automation, reports, and fleet submissions are all connected to a vehicle.
Add or edit a vehicle
Open Vehicles, then add a new vehicle or select an existing one. Vehicle details can include:
- Plate
- Make or model details
- Engine or capacity details
- Current odometer value
- Vehicle photo
The plate is required. Other fields help identify the vehicle in lists, reports, fleet records, and companion views.
Vehicle photos
Tap the image area on a vehicle to choose, view, or remove a photo. Photos make vehicles easier to identify in the vehicle list.
Archive or delete a vehicle
Archiving hides a vehicle from the Activity page without deleting its history. Existing trips can still be reviewed from History.
Deleting removes the vehicle from active use. Use archive when you may still need the vehicle's records later.
Vehicle automation
Vehicle Details includes automation options:
- Bluetooth: Start trips when a selected hands-free Bluetooth device connects and stop trips when it disconnects.
- NFC: Write an NFC tag that starts or stops trips for the vehicle.
- Wireless CarPlay: Start when CarPlay connects and stop when it disconnects.
- Vehicle Motion Detection: Use Motion & Fitness activity data to start and stop trips.
CarPlay automation and Vehicle Motion Detection can each be active on only one vehicle at a time.
For a guided overview, see Automation Overview.
Trip classification
Open Trip Classification from Vehicle Details to choose how new trips should be classified. You can set a default, schedule-based rules, and place-based rules.
Distance-based rates
Signed-in users can enable distance-based estimates for a personal vehicle. Open the vehicle, select Distance-Based Rate Settings, then choose official rates by trip date or create custom rate periods.
See Distance-Based Rate for setup, calculations, and reporting details.
