Tracking, Sync, Automation, and Subscription Troubleshooting
Fix common mobile issues when trips do not track automatically, records are missing, sync stalls, automation does not trigger, or a paid plan is not recognised.
Tracking, Sync, Automation, and Subscription Troubleshooting
Use this guide when Travel Logs is not tracking trips as expected, records seem to be missing, sync is delayed, automation does not trigger, or a paid plan is not recognised.
Start with these checks
Confirm:
- You are signed in to the correct Travel Logs account.
- The vehicle you expect to use already exists in Travel Logs and is selected where needed.
- The device is online for sync and account-based features.
- Location, Notifications, and Background App Refresh are enabled if the issue involves tracking or automation.
- History is using the correct vehicle, record type, and date range.
Trips are not automatically tracking
If the trip never starts, check that:
- The automation method is enabled on the correct vehicle or place.
- The trigger you expect to use is actually active, such as the saved Bluetooth device, geofence, NFC tag, Wireless CarPlay, or motion detection.
- The permissions needed by that trigger are still allowed.
Use the detailed setup page for the trigger you are testing:
If the trip starts but details are missing
If the trip record exists but route, distance, or locations are incomplete, check whether Live tracking and Routes were enabled before the trip started.
See Trips and Live Tracking for the Live and Routes requirements.
Trips, expenses, or maintenance data is missing
Before assuming the data was lost, check:
- The selected record type in History.
- The vehicle filter.
- The date range.
- Whether the record may still be waiting for sync.
If a trip exists but route, distance, or address details are missing, confirm that location access was available and that Live tracking and Routes were enabled before the trip.
If a watch or Wear trip was started offline, reopen the companion app and use its pending sync or refresh action once the device is back online.
See History for filters and Backup, Restore, and Data for the difference between local backups and account sync.
Data is not syncing
Check that:
- You are signed in to the correct account on every device involved.
- The device has an internet connection.
- You pulled to refresh on the record table and waited for the update to finish.
- OR performed a manual sync in Settings > Account > Manual Data Sync.
If sync issues only affect a watch or Wear device, reopen the companion app and use its refresh or pending sync action after the connection returns.
For more detail, see Backup, Restore, and Data.
Automations are not working
If automations do not start or stop trips reliably, check the trigger setup, permissions, and assigned vehicle before retesting.
Use Automation Troubleshooting for a deeper trigger-by-trigger checklist covering Bluetooth, places, NFC, Wireless CarPlay, and motion detection.
Subscription status is not recognised
If Travel Logs still shows the Free plan, trial limits, or unsubscribed behavior even though you already pay for a plan, check:
- The signed-in Travel Logs account matches the subscription owner.
- Settings > Account > Manage Subscription shows the account and billing source you expect.
- You are using the right recovery path for the billing provider.
If the plan was bought through the App Store, use Restore Purchases from the plan selection view in the mobile app after confirming the correct account is signed in.
If the plan was bought through the web checkout flow, manage it through the billing portal instead of the App Store.
See Subscription Troubleshooting for the full subscription-specific checklist.
