NFC Tags

NFC tags give you a physical way to start or stop a trip. After you write a tag for a vehicle, scanning it tells Travel Logs which vehicle to use.

Requirements

NFC tag writing requires a device and iOS/Android version that support NFC tag writing. You also need a writable NFC tag.

If NFC is not available on the device, the NFC option will not be shown.

Write a tag

1. Open Vehicles.
2. Select the vehicle.
3. Tap the NFC option.
4. Hold the device near a writable NFC tag when prompted.
5. Wait for the write session to complete.

The tag stores a Travel Logs link for that vehicle.

Scan behavior

Scanning a Travel Logs NFC tag works as a toggle:

• If no trip is being tracked, Travel Logs starts a trip for the vehicle on the tag.
• If a trip is already being tracked, Travel Logs stops the active trip.

Tips

• Place the tag where it is easy to scan before or after using the vehicle.
• Use one tag per vehicle.
• Replace or rewrite a tag if the vehicle record changes in a way that makes the old tag invalid.
