Permissions and Settings
Configure the permissions and app settings that keep tracking and automation working reliably.
Permissions and Settings
Travel Logs can record simple manual trips without every permission, but automation needs more access so the app can respond when you leave a place, connect to a vehicle, use Siri, or detect motion.
Permission checklist
Open Settings, then Permissions Configuration, and review each item.
- Location: Use Always (iOS) or Allow all the time (Android) for geofencing, live tracking, route recording, and automatic location fill.
- Notifications: Allow notifications so Travel Logs can tell you when a trip starts or ends and background data syncs.
- Siri: Allow Siri if you want voice shortcuts for starting trips, stopping trips, or adding expenses.
- Motion & Fitness: Allow motion access for Missed trips recovery, parking detecting and vehicle motion detection.
- Background App Refresh (iOS): Keep this on so sync, location events, and background automation can continue more reliably.
- Battery Optimisation (Android): Is disabled so sync, location events, and background automation can continue more reliably.
If a permission shows as denied or restricted, open iOS Settings for Travel Logs and update it there.
General settings
CSV Compatibility changes exported CSV formatting for spreadsheet compatibility.
Prefill Odometer starts a new trip with the previous trip's stop odometer for that vehicle.
Autofill Locations uses the device location to fill trip origins and destinations.
Tracking settings
Live tracks distance traveled using GPS while a trip is active. This is needed for real-time distance updates on the app and companion experiences.
Routes records the route taken during a trip. Routes are available only when Live tracking is enabled.
Because GPS can use more battery in the background, only enable Live and Routes when you want automatic distance and route detail.
Account and advanced settings
Sign in to sync your data, access account features, and use fleet features when they are available on your plan.
Advanced includes database and storage tools.
Companion settings
Widget lets you choose the default vehicle used when starting trips from the widget.
Siri Shortcuts lets you configure voice shortcuts for vehicle actions.

If tracking, sync, or automations are still unreliable after reviewing permissions, see Tracking, Sync, Automation, and Subscription Troubleshooting.
